FOR TEXT PAGES:
Our three Heidelberg SM74.8.4/4 offset-litho perfecting printing presses print text pages in 4 colour process on both sides of a maximum sheet size of B2 simultaneously and therefore produce either an 8 page section of B4/A4 or a 16 page section of B5/A5 in full colour.
We can produce smaller pagination sections, ie 4 page B4/A4 or 8 page B5/A5, but they are not as cost effective.
Therefore whenever possible it is better to keep to pagination combinations of 8 for B4/A4 or 16 for B5/A5 and if possible, text pages should be kept to a maximum of 150gsm paper weight, in order to be printed on our perfecting text printing presses both sides simultaneously.
If your publication is going to have a separate 4 page cover on heavier paper, then this is printed on our special Heidelberg SM74.5XL UV 5 colour offset-litho printing press.
Consider our in-house UV gloss varnish as a finish to your magazine cover rather than film lamination. On the press mentioned above, we can print the 4 colour process and a special colour if required and then simultaneously apply UV gloss varnish or a matt sealant. This press can handle paper weights up to 350gsm and is used for covers only, or for text pages in excess of 150gsm paper weight. UV gloss varnish is considerably cheaper than film lamination and provides protection with a comparable gloss finish. Film lamination on covers is a production process not carried out in-house. This expensive process entails sending your covers out to a specialist sub-contractor and is not just very expensive, but can add at least one day on to delivery schedules.
If you can select one of our "drop down" standard sizes and paper from our "Get a Quote" form, this will ensure that we can produce your magazine from our standard stock paper and you can benefit from our bulk buying from the paper mill.
When you "customize" your magazine size, you will inevitably be paying more for either excess wastage from the standard sheet size and or for a special making from the paper mill.
